michael i enjoyed reading your notice. we all get confused with those early pioneers. john justice was only a lad of 14 when he came to the colonies. his arrival in 1624 put me out of joining one of the societies as the ancestor had to be here before the massacre in jamestown. oh well. any way his daughter mary was most definitely born here in the colonies not ireland. her mother is still another story. some list her as anne clay - possibly she may have been from across the sea ? as i have not had a chance to check for more early passenger records -its on my list of items. from the indenture papers that john signed for his passage, there is no indication that any family members accompanied him. there is the mystry of who the rebecca frame was on the passenger list of people that wm. justice brought over.
only recently did i read a short local justice history and the beginning of course was william. but the interesting thing was this "the justice family fled england because of religious persecution. the ship of course was not mentioned by named but supposedly they landed only 9 miles from plymouth rock. where they attempted to settle in mass is not known at this time, but they found the same persecution in mass. and decided to seek another living area." the above is loosely quoted by my old memory, but its pretty close.in 22 years of research other than the reference one of our esteemed colleagues posted here i had heard nothing of this. frankly i had a tendency to scoff at the possibility, but now i'm not so sure. even tho' family lore indicates that william transported those people to va - well anyway there are alot of unanswered questions. make good use of the note sections of your data base. remember nothing is written in concrete. drop me a line of your opinion.
