John Justis, 1741-1829 and Johan Gustafsson

Looking for information on the parents of John JUSTIS (sometimes spelled Justice or even Justus) b. 1741 in Newberry, SC and d. 1829 in old Buncombe Co., NC. He married Anna Gillam b 1750 in Maryland and d. 1798 in what became Henderson Co., NC. We think that the JUSTIS name is derived from the Swedish: Gustafsson, and that John Justis is a grandson or great grandson of Johan Gustafsson who settled in New Sweden (i.e.
Delaware) in the 1600s. But we cannot establish when (or IF) one of Johan's children or grandchildren moved to Newberry.

We have lots of information on the descendants of John Justis but need the information on his ancestors. Willing to share.
