According to the Church in NY : 1639 a James Caar had a family in Gravesend NY and was affiliated with Nicholas Stillwell & John Stillwell. In 1693 he is again mentioned with Messers. Stillwell as purchasing land on Messers Stillwell's Property in Gravesend. There is also a William Caar as an immigrant from Scotland, doesn't mention that he is a Scot, or Irish, just mentions that he is an immigrant from that area. In 1705 there is a Mention from the Churches Records that Anthoni Kaar came to America with the Huyjken's as a family member to Annntje Huyjken (her surname can be spelled Huyke/Huyken). In the De Hart Family records by Albert L. Stokes the following is said which later connects the De Hart's to Anthony Kaar. Simon Aerson appears in a Deed dated March 2, 1664 on which date he purchased of thomas Frazen a 30 acre farm at Gowanus. As he took the oath of allegiance in 1687 and stated that he had emigrated 23 years previously, we may assume that Simon arrived in New Amsterdam in that year. No mention of his marriage in Netherlands nor do we know he date of birth. Records show that he had a SISTER, Lysbeth from Niewkoop, a village in South Holland, 12 milles east of Leyden (BKCo., p.322) and therefore it is quite likely Simon came from the same place. Simon never calls,or signs, that he is a De Hart, Vanderhart or Ter Hart although there are clerk and scribes that show he did. He married 1st, Geertje Cornelissen, undoubtedly a sister of Elias of New Castle. She was the mother of all Simon's children and a member of the Flatbush Church in 1677 as Gerrtruid Vander Hard, but beyong that we know nothing about her. Simon married a 2nd time on June 19, 1691 to Anetje Andriaes Willyard the widow of William Huycken (Flatbush Rec.) Issue of Simon are as follows in or out of order of birth: 2 -Cornelius 3 -Catherine 4 -Clasje 5 -Elias who's baptism was March 21, 1677 6 -Guysbert. (NOTE: Entried in the records of the dutch church, NY are all that is available concerning Elias Cornelissen. - Marriage banns November 17, 1678 issued; Marriage stated - on Dec 29, 1678 Elias Corneliszen j.m. van N Castle and Elizabeth Meyer j.d. van N. Yorke beyde woonende alhier. Bapt's Cornelis 9/3/1679 who's parents Elias Corneliszen, Lysbeth Mayer, witnesses Jan Dirckszen Mayer, Gerrtie Cornelis, Johnannes, Bapt 1/14/1682, parents Elias corneliszan, Lysbeth Meyers; witneses Willem Hilbeack, Beatie Jans. (There is more information but I am going to jump to the ISSUE #3 Catharine) 7 -Dorothea 8 -Geertje 9 -Simon (1684) 10 -Simon (1685) 11 -Annetje (1687) NOTE: (There is a possible issue of #2 Cornelius no Baptm records has been recorded for yet! and the record shows "Sponsor with him at the above baptm was Annetje de Haerdt. She could not be his sister who was then but 5 yrs old. The late John S. De Hart (complier of many charts of the family now at the NY Public Library) gives him as a wife Annetje, apparently on the basis of this record. However the record does not say wife and the Annetje remains unidentified. She could well be the 2nd wife of Simon Aerson. #12 Cornelius (supposed) by all account of the de Hart family in NJ (SnHS, P.805 and elsewhere) state that Cornelius DeHart a son of Simon DeHart was among the early settlers along the Old Indian Path. This was the Old road the divided Somerset from Middlesex County. NOW: #3 -Catharine . No baptsm record has been found. However, Catharine married Cornelius Joosten Van Sysen, Son of Joost Carelsen and Christina Jans (GMNJ 4:59. Cornelius was bp. 9/13/1666 at the Dutch Church in NY and died 10/25/1733. Catharine died 4/15/1742 (HSYB 1899, p.203). The full list of her children with sponsors all bapts at the Dutch Church in NY is especiallinteresting in proving family connections and the all important fact that De Hart and VanderHart are one and the same name. Issues are: 13 -Simon, bp 1/21/1693(parents Cornelis Joosten, Catharina de Hart; sponsors Cornelis de Hardt, Annetje de Haerdt). 14 - Cornelis, bp 3/18/1696 (parents are same) sponsors Isaacq Vrenenburg en syn vr. ISSUE #8 Geertje DeHart, 7th child of simon Aerson bp 8/20/1682 at Flatush (parents named Simon aardz V.der Hard and Geertje cornelis; witness Elias Cornelis and Lysbet Dirks, his wife; marred Adrian Kinne. Adrean made w Will while a resident of Amwell Township, Hunterdon Coutny dated 12/21/1749; proved 10/28/1755 3 days after the inventory was made. We therefore assign 1755 as the year of his death. the Will mentions wife Charity and children: - Simon (35a)line order - Kathrine - Elizabeth (35b) line order - Agnes Debow - Willempe Quick (35c) line order - Charity Hull (35d) line order NOTICE THE CHILDREN BEFORE ARE (35A-D) IN LINEAGE. This is how the records show: 33 -Catttelyntype bp @ 6 Myl Run 7/13/1710 (parents Adriaen Kinne and Geertye Dehart; witnesses Pieter Kinne and Eydae Kinne) 34 -Dorathe bp New Brunswick 9/5/1720 (parents Adriaan Kline and Geertje; witness Jacob Kinne and wife dorathe). 35 - Angeniethje bp NY 9/27/1726 (parents Adriaan Kerney and Geertje d Hart; witnesses ANTHONY KAAR and ANTJE HUYKES z.h.v). In the Genealogies of NJ Families Vol 1 in the back index and at the Dutch Church in NY is shows that Anthony and his wife have had their names Spelled Kaar/Karr and Caar. I hope this will give some researchers even more information regarding the surname of Kaar/Kar/Kaar/Caar. Don't give up looking we will locate the parents of Joseph Kaar/Karr soon. As long we don't just think we know everything there is to know. Thanks for reading the information on the DeHart Family. Notify Administrator about this message?
