Searching for information on the descendants of Nicolaus Kachelriess who arrived in American September 27, 1737 at the Port of Philadelphia, abroad the ship "Snow Molly" which left from Amsterdam, Holland and sailed to America via Dover, England.

Believe he is the same Nicholas Cochelrise who is listed on the 1737 Early Census Index - Philadelphia Co, PA.

No record found after 1737. Believe this family is picked up again the Granville District of NC in 1769/1770 with possible widow Mary Cocklereece Miers/Myars and possible sons Michael and Tabalt Cocklereece. Michael Cocklereece/Cocklereese is proven to be Michael Kachelreiss. Three of Michael's possible sons, Nicholas, Jacob, and Henry Cocklereese migrated to Sumner County TN about 1812. Tabalt's possible son John/Johannes, migrated to Illinois about 1834. Some mid to late 1800's descendants moved on to Iowa, Oregon, Missouri, and Texas.

Known descendants of Kachelriess have been found with the following surnames (among others): Cocklereece/Cocklereese, Cockelreece/Cockelreece, Cucklereese, Cockleriece, Cocklereas, Cocklerees. Many of these family lines dropped the Cockle/Cockel between 1840 and 1850 and became Reece, Reese, and Rees.
