The spelling of my grandmother's maiden name may be a variation of Kachelein... I am at a lost to find references to the parentage of Mina Cachelin, my grandmother, other than she married a Richard Thomas Eggleston, she bore three children in Norfolk, and later died in Ohio as the widow of Louis Jacot, a cousin. On my mother's birth certificate, her mother is listed as Minnie Cachelin, born in Pittsyvannia, Va. Her birth date is given as 20 FEb 1885 in the handwritten notes partially, but largely, in French. Her father was Alcide Cachelin, and he and his wife Mary Reichenbach, came to this country (initially Ohio) on their honeymoon, from Neuchatel, Switzerland, about 1868 or about 1874. I believe Alcide Cachelin settled in the vicinity of Danville because other relatives were there or in South Boston (Halifax, County). The relatives may have been surnamed Jacot (Jaco, Jacko), Cachelin or Richenbach (Reichenbach, Reichenbaugh). Siblings of Mina Cachelin were Fritz (Frederick) born 4 October 1869 Roland born June 22, 1875 Edmond (Edmund) born 15 March 1878 Evelyn born May 26, 1880 m. Harry George Buckwalter Lilia (Lelia) born March 16, 1882 m. Mina born February 20, 1885 m. R. T. Eggleston If anyone can provide information on any of the above, I would be most grateful. A.J.
