George K. Harris' wife, Mary, is Mary Ewing (Ewen). Their Augusta County marriage bond, dated 21 June 1820, is available from the Circuit Court Clerk's office in Staunton, Virginia. The bond identifies Mary's father as James Ewing (Ewen). Corroboration that this bond is for this George K. and Mary Harris is found by virtue of information recorded by Mrs. Frank Jenkins (Mary Frances Giffin) (1855-1931). In 1925 she indicated that Mary Harris was sister-in-law to Isaac and Ann Johns. Anna Johns has been identified as Anna Ewing, daughter of John Ewing. She settled in Hutton Township in Coles County, Illinois where George K. Harris and Mary (Ewing) Harris resided. Thus, Anna (Ewing)(Devericks) Johns and Mary (Ewing) Harris are sisters.
