I have recently learned that the woman my ggggrandfather George Karr Harris married was a Mary Kackley in Kanawha Co. VA around 1819, presumably the daughter of Abraham and Christina Whissen Kackley. All that most of us knew was that her name was Mary. Several children were born in VA, but the family moved to Ohio, then Illinois, and finally to Kansas. They settled in what was then Davis (now Geary) Co. KS. My gggrandfather Eldridge R. C. Harris married Anna Leftwich Wingfield there around 1858 and it is said that their first child, my ggrandmother,Louisa Catherine, was the first white child born in the county. George and Mary, along with both Wingfield and Harris descendents, are buried in Humboldt Cemetery in Geary Co.
Any information which any in this forum might have with regard to these people, particularly Mary, obviously, would be most welcome.
