Hi Kadels! My ancestors are the Petersons, who married the Kadels (which I now know thanks to the family tree posted by Dr. Frank Kadel). Here are my questions:
Payson Wells Peterson was the son of an immigrant who changed his name from Norburg to Peterson upon immigrating. From whom did you hear this or where did you read it? We have heard this story in our family, but I have not been able to determine from where this Norburg came, why the name Peterson was chosen, from what country Norburg came, etc. Legend has it that he stowed away on a boat and took the name of the captain upon entering. I'd like to know the boat name if possible. Any information you have will be most appreciated, and thanks for sharing what you have already!
