The California Pioneer register and Index 1547 - 1848 says "cadel or Kadel (Peter), 1846, said to have arrived in July; at N Helv, from S Rafael and Sonoma '47-8; lot owner SF '47; died at Oakland '75, age 611"
In 1849 Peter Kadel established the Sacramento Brewing Co in Sacramento, CA. Commenced brewing in 1850. In 1853 the brewery was rented by Philip Schell who purchased it in 1854.
In 1857, still in Sacramento, Maria Kadel was born to Peter and his wife Barbara. In the 1860 census they were in the city of San Francisco under the surname Cadell. Peter age 47, Barbara age 28, Maria age 3, and Barbara Shurll age 75.
Peter Kadel died 27 Feb, 1875 in Oakland, age 61 yrs., 8 mo., 20 days. His wife barbara died Aug 2, 1888, in Oakland age 58 yrs., 2 m0., 10 days. Peter is said to have come to sacramento with Captain John Sutter.
Maria married first EV Sutter, second Mr. Bannick. She died in 1930.
