Judy, I have just received some letters and papers from my father. In these letters there are lot of reference of an old Kadel family bible. This bible has approx 64 pages of french and germany writings of the Kadal line dating back to the 1600-1700. The bible has been handed down from Aunt Mary Brown 1916 to...I don't know. Anyways I'm wondering if this is the same bible. Some how I would love to get a copy of the record in it's original language and english or one or the other. I would be happy to pay for the cost of copy and mailing.
I'm really very new at my research and I'm not sure if I'm asking for to much. Our Kadel line just ends and I can't find the missing link.
My Grandmother who died when my father was 10. Nettie Margaret "Ruth" Kadel was the daughter of W. Michael Kadel who was the son of ???? we think Adam (Kadel) and Margaret (?). But which Adam???
I do have a copy of W. Michael Kadel and Edith with baby girl Ruth on a 1900 Census at Harrison Township in Vigo, Indiana. With W Michael Kadel born in New York and parents born in Germany. Story is told that Michael was born on Elis Island while parents awaited entry to the US. Date unknown.
I'm very intersted in any leads or help. The record from the bible fascinates me. I do have two translation (not the whole translation, just part of some of the family lines). These were collected by my cousin back in 1981, we still have no link. One is a copy written in the had of Benjamin C Kadel and the other a copy that Charles Brown had made from the origianl translation. They are great and full of information but they don't appear to be complete.
