However, I have assumed for the last 30 years that the "seat" of my Kagi-Kagy family lies in the general area of Bauma and Fischenthal. I formed this view in 1981 when Kathryn Kagay forwarded me a letter she received from Claire Kagi in Eschenbach, Switzerland (near Wald) on behalf of her (Claire's) father-in-law, Hans Kagi, containing material in German and English outlining their family history. This (German) material says in part: "The Kagis originate from an old large farmer and workman race whose cradle was allowed to be (thought, presumed to be?) Fischenthal in the Upper Toss River Valley in Canton Zurich. From there it transplanted itself in the 16th Century mainly to (near) Bauma but also to other places in the Zurich Highlands."
