My wife is a descendent of the extensive Kahl family in Macoupin County, Illinois. Buried in Shipman Cemetery in Shipman, Illinois are her ancestors beginning with Detlef O. Kahl (w/ wife Margaretha Fischer) born August 1805/6 (hard to read) and next to him is one son Frederick H. Kahl b. 1848 in Holstein, Germany. His wife Henriette last name unknown is also there. Also in Shipman is another well documented son of Detlef's, Ferdinand H. Kahl b 1841 md Sarah Deahl; and potentially two more sons unproven (Nicholas b.1851 and Charles b.Nov 13, 1835). Frederichk Kahl also had a son Fred born in 1870 md. Kathryn Snider but do not know his siblings yet, and then Fred and Kathryn had a son Emery (b. 1896) who is my wife's great Grandfather. I transcribed all the Kahls in the cemetery but cannot tie them together is there anyone out there who can tie it together, or anyone who knows more about Detlef?
