My g grandmother is Dorothy (Nelson) Riemel 1st h. Behnke 2nd h. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Kallis) Nelson 1864-1909. Elizabeth is the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Selinger) Kallis. Dorothy grew up in Wilmington, Ill. She spent a lot of time w/ her aunt Emma,
who is the sister of Elizabeth. I've been told the family had something to do w/ gypsies. Many Victorian pics are from Wilmington, Braidwood, joliet, and Coal City, Ill. and S. Dakota, Minnesota, Oregon. I am planning to go to Wilmington this Spring or Summer to find Franks grave. I believe he may be burried in Little Bohemian Cemetery Dorothy stayed in touch w/ her cousin Pheobe Powell until maybe the 60s or the 70s Ihave a funeral card for Mary Powell 1862-1905. Is that your great grandma? I dont have much info beyond Frank and Elizabeth (Selinger), but I am trying to research that side of my family, as I am the 6th gen in an all female line to the Elizabeth (Selinger). ANY INFO on that side would be GREAT, siblings, children, parents etc. PLEASE email at
