Did your ancestors settle in Chicago? I checked at the Polish Geneological Society site (http://www.pgsa.org/index.htm) and found some listings for Kawalec there, but nothing connecting to Kaluza. If you are a Chicagoski, I'm the great-grandson of Ignacy Kaluza who emigrated from Lugnian in Slask (that's Silesia) which is about 4 miles north of Opole around the year 1881. According to the marriage registry, he was the son of Andrea Kaluza and Cristine Gawlica. Any connection?
