My sister and I visited Lapua in August 1989 because we are sure our ancestors came from there originally. However, we only stopped at one church for records and I understand Lapua has at least 5 churches. It was to our disadvantage that we only spoke English, French, and Spanish. The pastor's 2nd language was German. We didn't communicate very well! Matts, born 22 Apr 1834 may be a clue; perhaps my father's grandfather since his son, Herman, may be an uncle of my father. My father's Uncle Herman emigrated to northern Minnesota so I may find records up there. Thanks!
