I feel that there may be a connection between Hezekiah Kanode and Morgan Kanode, if they lived only 2 doors away. My grandfather Jesse Jermiah Kanode was one of three sons that I know of, Robert, Nathen and Jesse ("JJ"). My grandfather told me that Morgan was born in 1803 in Baltimore MD, but some records that I have seen indicate that it was 1813 which would agree with the 1850 census. the slight discrepency of subtracting 36 from 1850, indicates 1814, however this may be an error, due the time of year of birth against the time of the census. My grand father told me that his father,Morgan was a boot-maker. I recall my grandfather telling me that he may have had a half sister and/or half brothers. I think that Morgan may have had two wives, perhaps the one mentioned in your letter, Delilah, age 22 may have been the first, as this name does not "ring-a-bell" with the name I found elsewhere. My Grandfather Jesse was born around 1875, which would have made Delilah about 47 at the time, so it would appear that she may have been beyond her child bearing years. I intend see if I can locate the marrage records in Logan for Morgan. Incidently There was a name Otho in the census at the time who I believe was about Morgan's age, who was in the cival war, so now I am not sure that it was not a brother, or the son listed as Ortho, age 10/12 in the census. Seems that he may have been a bit young for the war. I will contact you further when I locate more information. Keep in touch, thanks--Medill Wygum.
