I just received your e-mail regarding the Kanode family - have been out of town for a few days. My primary focus is on the Faunce family but I try to add as much as I can about the related families. The 1870 Census for Frederick County, Maryland show: Joseph R. Kanode, 52, (born 1818) in Maryland, a painter, wife, Elizabeth V., 46, born in Maryland, keeping house.
I believe its a good possibility that these are the parents of Albert Henry Kanode. There is a Joseph R. Kanode, (born 1817) who died January 20, 1904 in Washington, D. C., age 87, and is buried in Congressional Cemetery in WDC. Congressional Records state that the funeral was from his son's residence, 1314 Maryland Avenue, N. E. but does not give the son's name. However, the 1900 D.C. Census show that Albert H. Kanode is living at 1314 Maryland Avenue, N. E.
There are two other Kanodes (Frankie Lee and Mary E. Kanode) buried in Congressional and I can send you their information if you don't have it.
It's wonderful that you have the silver coffee service used by the Kanode family. I love to collect any family memorbilia that I can. I have a few things that belonged to the Faunce family. I also try to collect old photographs of relatives.
I show that Helen Rebecca Kanode married William Uriah Herbert - is this correct. I think the Herberts were from St. Mary's County, Maryland. I show they had a son, William. That's about all I have for Helen's family. Anything you can add would be greatly appreciated.
