Dear Ann, I have been out of town for a while and just received this wonderful message from you. Helen Rebecca Faunce and William Uriah Herbert were my great grandparents. Their son, William Norville Herbert married my grandmother, Margaret Anne Morton. Through the Morton line, I am a direct descendant (9th great granddaughter of Dr. John Woodson of Jamestown, Virginia and 6th cousin several times removed of Jesse James, the outlaw). If you have any info on my great grandfather William Uriah and his parentage, I would love to know. I am stuck there. The family legend is that his father was the physician to Edgar Allen Poe when he lived in Baltimore and there is a signed set of first editions from Poe in my family, but I have no proof and have struck out everywhere.

My sister is quite ill and is having heart surgery on Monday, so I don't have time to get into all that you wrote, but I will try to go through evrything I have in the next week and fill in what I can for you and maybe we can share some good info. Thanks so much for replying and I really look forward to hearing from you. My direct e-mail is sdavis2@tampabay.rr.com. By the way, I do have William Uriah's obit, which I can send you. He fought with the Rough Riders in the Spanish American War.

Thanks again,

Stephanie Fletcher Davis
