My great aunt Rose Schenkman Kaplan married a Louis Kaplan. He was not a real Kaplan but was taken in by them. He was actually a Pendrake. Pendrake was the wife to Louis Kaplans adopted family. She had a sister who wanted to get her son out of Russia and sent him as a relative under the name of Kaplan to her sisters house hold. Kaplan. When he left for the US it was under the name of Kaplan. I know that his mother had another child in Europe born later and that he was adopted by the midwife because they could not care for a child. I also know that Louis Kaplans (Pendrake) had a number of real Kaplan brothers and a sister. I have more details on all of this in my geneology Databse. Send me a direct email at and a phone number and we can see if their anything to go on. My cousin Ruby Kaplan is turning 90 in a few months and he is the one that filled me in on all these details. He is not well so lets act quickly. He loves to talk about all of this. We will too when we are 89. It is not unlikely that one of the Kaplan/Pendrake children would name their son Louis. Depending on your age that might actually work. Louis (Pendrake) Kaplan died in 1937. One of his sons is my Cousin who is 89.
