Dear Mr. Fronzec,
Thank you so very much for this information!
I wrote and had my letter to Dushan Karaba translated before sending.I am happy to tell you that Dushan's father, Milan Karaba replied via e-mail through his son-in-law, Miroslav Kovac. This is what he had to say...
Hi Debbie.I received you letter, not me but my son Dushan. My name is Milan Karaba and son Dushan is age 30.
I am the son of Jozef and Katariny Karaba. My grandfather was named Stefan Karaba.
I think, that we are related because all of the Karaba family comes from Hlohovec and our ancestor was some foreigner, who, during the Turkish war married here. This was the start of our family.
My grandfather was one of the missing in World War I and Dad grew up as an orphan.
He was then very young, so that he did not remember much about the family. When Dad was still small his mother also died.He was raised by strangers.
Dear Debbie, those about whom you ask were Dad's step-brothers, but they have died long ago.Dad died 10 years ago at age 80.My mother is still living, she is age 80.
My mother had 5 sisters and they also passed away at the time your great-grandmother did.
Pauline went to America and we know nothing about them either. They lived in *North Carolina, but they died and none of the rest of them made themselves known.
...(*Milan may have been misinformed here as Pauline went to NY first, then to PA.)...
The paintings about which you ask who the artist was, we are not able to determine, but the Karaba family is devoted to painting.
Of the family, the old ones have died and the young ones are scattered thruout Slovakia.
They went to the larger cities to work.
I am 58 years old and I work as a railwayman. My wife is named Valeria, she is 52 and is a housewife. We have two children, a son Dushan and a daughter, Daniela.Dushan has two sons and Daniela a daughter and a son.We love them very much and they us.We have joy from each other.
Dear Debbie you ask if we can travel to other countries. You dream of it but we cannot allow ourselves to have such dreams.
Debbie, we are very glad that someone from overseas had contacted us, that you remember the Karaba family. And we are glad that we will be writing to each other. We sincerely greet you and all of your family.
I am sending you photos of my family.

You may send electronic mail to my son-in-law.
(E-MAIL ADDRESS:[email protected])
P.S. We have no one who can translate into English because for many years only Russian was taught.
...This concludes the letter from Milan Karaba to me, which I have posted here to encourage anyone related to contact this family.
My letter to the Karaba family was translated by a friend with first hand knowledge of the Slovakian language. He was born there.
His rates are reasonable and he's very reliable.Post a message for me here if you wish to contact him.
I will lookup and post a link to a sight I've found helpful in translating as well.
And to you, Charles Fronzek...
THANK YOU SOOO VERY MUCH!!!
Sincerely,
Deb Slater
