More on Karps from Russia/Ukraine/Lithuania "Provizer"

Well, this would be a refinement of an earlier post from 2000, and is I guess more specific to my family. Somehow information in my family is scarce, and it appears to be that way on here. I think thats a trend belonging to the situation in Europe at the time where people just wanted to get the heck out of there.

Anyway, my grandmothers maiden name was "Provizer" and she married a Samuel Karp. He was from kiev and her family from Lithuania. I think they met *in* the Ukraine and came here, but then again the truth is a little cloudy there. It could be that she was born here but met him there, but I know he was born there.

He was rather unhealthy being poor jewish folk from Russia around 1915-1919 or so, during the Russian Revolution. But, my grandmother was a tough nut and together they raised a family here. I am third generation.

Anyone recognize the name "provizer"?

I have more information about sam and his other family, it may help a little bit.
