I am wondering if there is a connection in names. My great grandparents came over to Ellis Island from Finnland on November 23, 1900 When they arrived the name was changed to Karppala. The correct spelling of the name is Karpaleinen. His name was Herman and hers was Lusa. They had 5 children Lula,Sylvia,Laurie,George and Leo.The name was changed again to Hermanson(herman hermanson0. If this story rings abell with anyone please Let me know.
