Hi, Carrie.

Like Owen, I've not heard of any 'gypsy' connections in our branch of the Kaser family. My Kaser ancestor came from (their 'heimat' was) Kleindietwyl in Bern Canton. Generally, any people with the same last surname and who can trace their origins back to the same heimat are almost certainly related. But the same surname from different heimat's (such as yours and mine) are far less likely to be be related (via their surname branch, anyway). Especially with an 'occupational' surname like Kaser (which means 'cheesemaker' or sometimes 'cabinetmaker').

However, the Kaser surname project with FTDNA is open to ALL Kaser's, related or not, so if you can convince any of your male Kaser relatives to submit a DNA test, they'll be more than welcome.

Everett
