Dear Tonya,
I too am new at this as I have only been doing research for about 3 years now. But you have to work backwards. Where was your father born? When did his father come to the States? Where did he settle? Ask your father for all the information he has. Look on the internet, public library, historial society. Good Luck, let me know how you are doing.
