Looking for info on William Kasten, of Florence Kentucky. I collect letters and diarys. I just acquired his handwritten letters that he sent to his wife from Vietnam, and Fort Benning, in 1962 and 1963. The following is his obituary from 1998 or 1999.

William L. Kasten , 75, of Florence, died at 3:39 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a retired Army veteran and a shipping employee at Signode Corp., Florence.

He was a past commander of Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423, Elsmere, and a member of Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS in Cincinnati, and the Military Order of COOTIE.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Kasten; a brother, Westie Kasten of Cincinnati; and sisters, Evelyn Castor of Kettering, Ohio, and Alma Fielding of Tampa, Fla.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042; or Veterans Nursing Home, 1000 S. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.
