Do you know anything about the ancestry of Amelia Samp? Seeing the names Samp and Kasten in your posting caught my curiosity.
In my family in Milwaukee, I have Emil Sampe, who married, first, Anna Staffen, and had 6 children. Their youngest child was about 2 years old, when Anna died, about 1910. One year later, Emil Sampe married his first wife's best friend, Marie (Mayme) Johannes, whose half-sister was Flora Kasten. (Flora married Julius Henke.) The household included Anna's nephew and mother, and Mayme and Flora were beloved by the whole family.
