Greetings from Kansas,
I am researching the "Kastner" surname. Both my great-great-grandparents, Nicholas and Caroline Kastner were born in Germany in 1845. They immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Louisville, Kentucky where Nicholas was a saloon keeper. They had five children by 1880 and their names were Albert(1871), August(1874), Frank(1867), George(1877), and Sophia(1869). They were all born in Kentucky. At some point, Frank, who was my great-grandfather moved to Westmoreland, Kansas in Pottawatomie Co.. He and his wife (I know not her name) had children, but I only remember the names Harold, Mabel, Nola and maybe Howard. My grandmother was Mabel and a few years back she wrote down the name of the place Nicholas and Caroline was from in Germany. She wasn't sure of the spelling, but it maybe close. Deudsches Kranz was what she wrote and I am hoping to trace my "Kastner" roots there. I welcome any imformation on my great-great-grandparents or suggestions on how to research European ancestory. I hope I havn't troubled you all and I thank you for your time.
Just a note, Caroline's maiden name was "Perner".
