My George Katzel was born in 1839, possibly in Marion County, Ohio. He is my great grandfather. He had brothers John P and Phillip Frederick, sisters, Margaret, Hannah, Lena. George's father was Jean Pierre Katzel who came to America with his 4 or 5 brothers and settled in Columbus area. One brother's name was Nicholas and was killed in an arsenal fire. I don't know the names of the other brothers. Perhaps your Christian/Christopher was descended from one of the brothers. Most Ketzel's that I have found are related, especially if they were in Ohio at one time. I have extensive history back to the 1600's to Alsace-Lorraine. I'm sure they came from a germanic country originally. Alsace-Lorraine was partly germanic at that time. My George's children changed the spelling to Ketzel. My name is Betty Ketzel Lakin Knoll.
