Hi Amy,
It was so good to hear from you, but I was wondering which of Florence's children you were descended from. I couldn't remember which one of Florence's daughter's was killed in that accident. I do remember the funeral because it was very dramatic. It was held at the Baptist Church next to my grade school in St. Louis. I think two the boys had their funeral at the same time and place. I was so shocked because the sister of one of the boys actually picked him up out of his casket, will never forget that. Does you mother, not sure who she is but does she remember the approximate date of Mary Ellen's death. I think I was still in grade school, not sure how old I was at that time.
Leo was a great guy but little on the quiet side. He went to live with my Aunt Dorothy after Florence died. He moved with them when they went to Owensboro, Kentucky and died there in 1978. He is buried at the same cemetery where Florence was buried. I wish I had the dates of Florence's birth and death I was thinking Florence died before 1970 but not sure. I tried to find her family but didn't have any success with finding her in the census records. Do you know when she married William Kauling, not sure when he died either. I'm thinking she is buried at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in St. Louis. I think my Aunt Dorothy told me that. I think I found a few dates for her sons on the SSDI, hopefully I have the correct dates. I never did find her family in the census records but did find a William Kauling that was working as a attendant at the City Sanitarium in 1930, his age appears seems to be about right. I did search for the Kauling and did find Helen Josephine Cornelius. I have always wanted to learn more about the Kauling family, hope to hear from you again sometime. Thanks so much for your reply.
Shirley
