Sandra, does your Catherine Kavanagh have some connection to Paterson, New Jersey, or to Minnesota perhaps? Did she come to the US at all? Do you have some evidence that she came from County Tipperary or County Laois?

Shortly after I made that post in 2004, I commissioned research on my Kavanagh family through TFHR, since I suspected that I would find records for my family in the Diocese of Cashel & Emly. TFHR found baptismal records for 11 children of my ggg-gparents Daniel Kavanagh and Ellen Keyes in the records of the Catholic parish of Templemore (from the church located at Clonmore). Those records, dating from 1823 to 1845, show that the family lived in the townland of Clonbough (Clonboo), Co. Tipperary. This is near the town of Templemore, which is located in the northeastern corner of County Tipperary and near the border with County Laois.

A few years ago, I found out a bit more when I located a Coroner's Report in an Irish newspaper from 1821 describing the murder at Clonboo of Daniel Kavanagh's father Thomas Kavanagh, a tailor, age about 70. The events described that made it clear that Daniel and Ellen were already married and had at least one child, perhaps more, in 1821. Records in the area do not begin early enough to show their marriage, or perhaps their marriage falls into a gap in the records of some nearby parish. In any event, a marriage for them has not been found, nor have records for baptisms of children before 1823. However the Coroner's Report made it clear the Keyes family had lived in the area quite a while and that Daniel and Ellen were married with children in 1821.

There is no Catherine among their 11 known children (baptisms beginning 1823). But, as I said, I do not know the names of their children born before 1823. Please let me know a little more about your Catherine Kavanagh, especially what happened to her after her marriage, where she ended up, names of children, etc. I might notice some connection.
