Clann Chaomhánach Gathering at Bunclody, Co. Wexford, from 15 to 19 September 2010
The 11th International Gathering of Clann Chaomhánach, one of Ireland’s most prestigious ancient royal clans, will be held at the Carlton Millrace Hotel in Bunclody, Co. Wexford, Ireland, from 15 to 19 September, 2010.
Up until the 17th Century, the Caomhánachs, as Kings of Leinster and the leading family of the MacMurroughs, had been the most important clann in Leinster for some 500 years. The Irish name Caomhánach has been interpreted or translated in several hundred ways, including, for example, Cavanagh, Kavanagh, Cavana, Cavanaugh, Kavanaugh, Cavagnaic, etc.
Presentations and open sessions will focus on family history and genealogy. There will be a tour thru Caomhánach Country to visit sites of family historical importance; the biennial General Membership Meeting; the inauguration of the new chief, and fellowship, “céilí and craic.” A heartfelt “céad mile fáilte” to Caomhánachs, their descendants, and all who wish to join in the festivities.
Details of Gathering events, accommodations and Clann membership can be found at http://www.kavanaghfamily.com
