I don't know if this connects to your Brayshaw family:

Dr. Joseph Brayshaw
b. 26 Sep 1794, England
d. 4 Dec 1856 DuQuoin, Perry co, IL
bur. Brayshaw cemetery, 1 mile south of Du Quoin, Perry co, IL
Elizabeth Pyle
b. 26 Sep 1802, KY
d. 27 Apr 1866
1-Angelina Brayshaw
2-Carlyle Brayshaw
3-Helvitius or Vish P. Brayshaw
4-Owen Brayshaw
5-Abraham Brayshaw

Dr. Joseph Brayshaw was the first doctor in Perry County, IL. He arrived in Illinois in 1822 from England after teaching school two years in Maryland. He married Elizabeth Pyle, who migrated to Perry County from Kentucky, following the great earthquake of 1811. He began riding circuit from five miles west of Old DuQuoin, through Pinckneville and Mount Vernon. His fee was money, seedling trees, eggs, over-night lodging for him and horse, or sometimes nothing at all.
