My maternal grandfather, Joseph Kaye, was
the son of Joseph Kaye and Elizabeth Brayshaw. One of my grandfather's brothers
was Wilson Kaye, and another was Wm. Brayshaw
Kaye (called Brash). Grandpa was born on June
13, 1846, immigrated with his parents from
Lynthwaite, near Huddersfield, Yorkshire, in
about 1852. He enlisted in the 4th Maryland
Infantry (Union) in 1862, was wounded at
Spottsylvania Courthouse, and moved to Chariton County, Missouri after the war.
He died in 1925.
