Shirley & Don,
I am the great-great-great-great-great granddaughter of Peter Kehler and Elizabeth (Adams) Kehler.Their surname has several variations:Kaylor, Kohler, Koehler, etc. From what information I have gathered about Peter, he was the son of Johann Peter Kehler and Barbara Felger Kehler. He immigrated from Germany (I'm trying to find out what city) in 1774, traveling to the port of Philadelphia on a ship named "Sally."He served as a private at Valley Forge from 1777-78 during the American Revolution. He married Anna Elizabeth Adams in 1777.She was the daughter of Thomas I. Adams, an English immigrant, and Magdalena Adams.According to my family's historical records, Peter and Elizabeth had three children: Peter, James "Jacob," and Catherine (from whom I am directly descended). However, my recent research indicates that there were three more children:Mary, Elizabeth, and John. Not sure if Theresia was another child or if that is a first or middle name of one of the daughters. If either of you has any more information on Peter Kehler, I would be interested.I am trying to join the Daughters of the American Revolution and finding documentation of Peter's service has been challenging.By the way, are either of you related to him?
