2. DANIEL2 KAYLOR (ABRAHAM1) was born Abt. 1759, and died Aft. May 22, 1852 in Washington County, Virginia. He married ELIZABETH WEEKS Abt. 1788, daughter of JOHN WEEKS and ELIZABETH. She was born Abt. 1763, and died October 15, 1859 in Washington County, Virginia.

Notes for DANIEL KAYLOR:
Daniel Kaylor and Elizabeth Weeks were my great, great, great, great grandparents. The deed records of Washington County, Virginia show that Daniel Kaylor purchased 46 acres of land in Rich Valley on the North Fork of the Holston River on a steep spur of Walker Mountain in 1795. It appears that he paid $200 for this property. The Washington County Land Tax Records show Daniel paying taxes on this property every year from 1795 to 1803. On March 15, 1803, Daniel Kaylor purchased an additional 200 acres of land touching Walker Mountain from Adam Miller and wife for $150. Daniel then proceeded to pay taxes on the 46 and 200 acres, listed separately in the tax books, until his death.

Daniel Kaylor was born about 1759 based on his age being 91 years at the time of the 1850 Census. Daniel married Elizabeth Weeks, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Weeks, about 1788 according to the book "Families of Washington County, etc." John Weeks lived in Sullivan County, Tennessee when it was still a part of North Carolina. John Weeks purchased 98 acres in Sullivan County, Tennessee from William Anderson on March 09, 1789. He also purchased 46 acres from the State of North Carolina on July 20, 1796 for 50 shillings. There was also a Zachariah Weeks dealing in land in Sullivan County from 1796 to 1804 who was probably related to John Weeks.

A handwritten copy of Daniel Kaylorís will was found in one of the microfilms for Washington County in the Virginia State Library. Daniel signed his name with an "X". The will reads as follows:

" I, Daniel Kaylor of Washington County, State of Virginia do make this my last will and testament. I give to my daughter Polly Kaylor my household and kitchen furniture and a cow and a support of off the place on which I now live so long as she remains single and on the said place or in the family of Abraham Kaylor, she so doing what she can to maintain herself. I give to my daughters Rachael Green, Lydia Carmack, Catherine Fleenor, Susan Willoughby, Jemima Minnick and Malinda Shoemaker one dollar each. I give to the children of my daughter Ruthy Fleenor, deceased, one dollar and to the children of my son John Kaylor, deceased, one dollar. I give to the children of my son Jacob Kaylor, deceased, one dollar. I give to the children of my daughter Elizabeth Lewis, deceased, one dollar. The remainder of my property after my just debts are paid, both real and personal, I give and bequeath to my son Abraham Kaylor he the said Abraham Kaylor supporting me and my wife Elizabeth Kaylor in a decent manner during our natural lives. Lastly I appoint my son Abraham Kaylor Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me." The last portion of the will, which I have elected to omit from this document, contained legal statements and signatures.

As a special note, Mary (nicknamed Polly) was living with her parents in the 1850 Census. Mary was living with the Abraham Kaylor family in the 1870 Census and I would assume it was still on the Daniel Kaylor estate.
