Re: Michael Drew's message of 2 May 2003.
One of my forebears, (Sarah Lehane /Lyons) & her family also arrived in Portland, Victoria, on 29 October 1855 on board the "Balnaguith." Shortly afterwards, she went to work with the Kealy's to work at the Bringalbert & Ozkandnook Stations north of Portland.
To celebrate the occasion of 150 years since the Lehane family's arrival, I intend to travel from Perth, Western Australia in 2005 to Victoria. In the circumstances, I'd like to communicate with you beforehand.
I consider that a submission should be made by someone in your family to the Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach, Queensland, to have Bill Kealy inducted as an "Unsung Hero." He accompanied Tom Hamilton and the 15 y-o William David Hamilton (Sarah's eldest son) in an epic drove of over 2,000 miles in 1872 to take 120 horses to Darwin. The journey took over a year.
