Kearsley Settlement in Genesee, Michigan

Does anyone know anything about a settlement in the early 1800's known as the "Kearsley Settlement"? It was located in what was known then as the Genesee Twp. area which is now part of Flint, Michigan.
My grandfather Phillip Baxter Courts and his wife Ann came from England and settled first in Watkins Glen New York and then came to the Genesee Twp. area with their son William Ernest Courts and his wife Louisa (Brockie) Courts. William and Louisa had 7 children while living in this area.
I wonder if a Mr. Kearsley had relatives who settled there hence the name of the settlement.
Hope someone knows something about the Kearsley Settlement and can help me out on this. Thanks Bev
