Dear Kathleen, thank you very much for responding to my request for information on Peter Kearsley. My Peter is listed on the 1881 Census, aged 17, a coal miner. His brother, Thomas Kearsley (one of 6 other siblings) was age 20 at that time and was a brick maker. Their father was Peter Kearsley, aged 52, a silk twister. His wife was Ann Kearsley (ne Ratcliffe), aged 42 at the time. They were living at 37 Henry Street, Bedford, Lancashire.

The age of my Peter's brother, Thomas (1861), does not seem to correspond with the date of birth of your Thomas (circa 1840), however it is consistent with him being married at age 25 on 27/5/1886. So the Thomas you have found who married Margaret Fairclough would appear to be my Peter's brother.

Have you checked the 1881 British census for your Thomas? If not I have a copy of the Census, and would be pleased to do a search and pass on any information I find. Do you have any other details on your Thomas Kearsley? Where did you find the information on Thomas and Margaret?

Thank you again - Keep in touch.
Annette (Maitland, Australia)
