Kearsley of Durham/Yorkshire
My great grandfather Edward Kearsley, born in Ayton, Sunderland, Durham in 1868 (died 1950) was married to Ophelia Bolt and rumour has it he was Salvation Army preaching on the streets of London as my grandfather (Leonard or Anthony - he went by both) grew up.
Siblings appear to be Isabella (1850 of Hylton, Durham), William (1852 of Hylton), Peter (1855 of Hylton), Alice (1858 of Hylton), Jane A (1862 of Chatham, Kent), Mary E (1864 of Hylton) and Elenor (1870 of Hylton).
Father Peter (1829 of Great Ayton, Yorkshire, died 1899 in Sunderland) was a ships carpenter and married Jane (?) (1829, South Shields) in about 1849.
I am aware of only two siblings for Peter, Henry (1822 in Great Ayton) and Sarah (1817 in Whitby). I believe Henry married Eleanor (1829 of Newcastle Northumberland) and had Eleanor (1847 Hylton), Mary A (1849, Hylton), John (1851, Hylton) and Henrietta (1857, Hylton).
Their parents were John (20 May 1795 in Eston, Yorkshire) and Ann Hines (22 Feb 1795 in Whitby) who married 8 Feb 1816 in Whitby.
His siblings appear to have been Elizabeth (1790), Mary (1793), Jane (1788), Harriett (1799) and Nathaniel (1797) all of Eston.I believe Nathaniel married a Mary and had a John in Great Ayton in 1838.
Their parents were John (1740 of Great Ayton) and Ann Metcalf (1767 of Eston) who married 1788 in Eston.
John (1740) siblings were Frances (1738), Frances (1742), Samuel (1738-1827), and Robert (1750) all of Great Ayton.Samuel married an Ann (1737) and had Mary (1782), Elisabeth (1771), Ann (1766), Hannah (1777), Samuel (1769) and William (1779) all of Eston.
Either Frances had a child out of wedlock - Joseph was born in 1787 in Eston - or mom was 66 when he was born.
Parents of John, Frances, Samuel and Robert were Frances Shaw (1711 of Great Ayton) and John (1708 of Great Ayton) who were married in 1737.
John (1708) had one sibling I know of, William (1706 of Great Ayton.Their father was Robert.
Here it gets really sketchy.I believe Robert was born in Greatham Durham in 1680.
If so, then his siblings were: Oliver, born in 1686 who had Mary (1726), John (1724), David (1731), Ann (1733) and Timothy (1732) all of Sedgefield; and John (1680).
Their father was John or Johannes, who, if I have it right was born in Gateshead in 1626 and ordained deacon in 1676 and priest in 1677, became vicar of Greatham in 1702.I think he married Rebecca Peers in Stainton in Cleveland, 1678.
Again, if I have that right, then John (1626), had siblings, Peter and Margaret, also born in Gateshead, and father was another John.
Any help of family contacts greatly appreciated.
