Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Patricia, my ggg-grandparents were James Keay and Jane Johnston who immigrated from Forfarshire, Scotland, and settled in Will Co., IL, in 1855. They appear in the 1878 Will Co., Illiinois History which provides many details including his parents names, John and Isabella (Barry) Keay. (Rootsweb has the bios online.) James and Jane moved to Keokuk Co., IA, where their daughter Mary Ellen Keay Chadwick (my gg-grandmother) resided. Mary Ellen's obit (1920) includes brother William S. Keay of Ft. Madison, IA, and sisters Mrs. Asherman of Surprise, NE, and Mrs. C. Franklin of Linwood, NE, as survivors. I recently saw your James Keay of Butler and Saunders counties online in the Andreas' History of Nebraska and supposed he might be another brother. If this is true, I believe you are a 2nd cousin to my grandmother. Let's exchange info.
