Patricia, we don't have a match yet. My ggg-gf James Keay was born Feb. 24, 1812 in Forfarshire (now Angus), Scotland. Your immigrant, John, would have been 9 when he immigrated in 1822, which was 33 years earlier than my James who came in 1855. Do you know to which county of IL they settled or from which area of Scotland they came? Since my gg-gm Mary Ellen had 2 sisters in Butler Co., NE, the county to which your James first went before settling in Saunders Co., NE, I had hoped they were connected. Additionally, there is a Roumans family from Oskaloosa, IA, not so far from my Keays. The IGI lists a John Kay baptism (?) on Aug. 28, 1819, in Inverarity and Methy, Angus, Scotland, as another son of John and Isobel Barrie Kay (my James' parents). Where did you get your birthdate info for John?
