Don't know about after he left Ireland or even his relatives at home but here is some info on his family
Jim
Baptisms
At Glebe (Drumharkan)5th Aug 1836 Pat Keegan son of John Keegan and Honor Mahon
At Drumliga 2nd July 1843 John (or Francis - unclear) son of John Keegan and Mary Mahon
(no townland given) 27th May 1846 John Keegan son of John Keegan and Mary Mahon
(no townland given) 25th March 1850 Michael Keegan son of John Keegan and Honor Mahon
At Glebe 10th Nov 1852 Mary Keegan daughter of John Keegan and Honor Moran
At Glebe 15th Jul 1855 Rose Keegan daughter of John Keegan and Honor Mahon
Honor and Mary are often interchangeable
Although Honor Moran is written I believe it should be Honor Mahon,One of the sponsors was Sara Goldsberry whilst one of the sponsors at the baptism of Rose was a Douglas Goldsberry. It is this coincidence of an unusual surname which sort of confirms this to me.
