Perry, I think I have information on the family you are seeking, but the middle initials and the birth date for John that I have are different. I have found that the Keele's seemed to use the same names from generation to generation, and cousins often had the same names. The John that I have information on is a John W Keele, the son of Samuel B. Keele Jr. John was most likely born in Warren Co. Tenn in 1854, and I believe that Sara was born there also. According to the 1850 census Samuel B Jr. lived in the 9th District of Warren Co (listed on p.15 of Warren Co. census, entry #92). The family moved around 1857 to McDonald Co. MO (this county is in the very southwestern corner of the state, Arkansas is to the south and Oklahoma to the west). After the Civil War the family moved to Central Missouri, and settled to the southwest of Sedalia, Pettis Co., MO. John W married his cousin Sara J Keele, the daughter of William A and Lucinda Vandergriff Keele. According to the 1880 census of Pettis Co. MO, John and Sara were 25 and 21 respectively, and their children were Rosey L - 3, George - 2, and Clarince - 6/12. Rosa L Keele married Michael A Maltsburger on Aug 28, 1890 according to the marriage liscence book of Pettis Co. John W died in 1920 and Sarah in 1928. They are burried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetary, which is southwest of Sedalia, and off a county road east of US HWY 65. As of last summer (2001) their gravestones were still standing. John and Sara's fathers were two of eleven childen of Samuel Bayliss and Sara Keele Sr. At this time I have not been able to connect Samuel B Sr. with any of the other Keele families in TN. I believe they are descended from Arthur Keele who migrated from England in 1747, but no solid proof to substantiate the claim. Sara J's oldest brother, Linza Keele, was my Greatgrandfather, and the information comes from my investigation on my mother's family. Does any of this information connect to the John and Sara you are looking for?
