I read your posting with interest. Perhaps it is just coincidence, but my father and
grandfather both lived in Chicago, and both had the same name as mine, Thomas William Keelin. My father had a younger brother, John, and an older sister, Mabel. John died without offspring. Mabel married Howard Keefe, and they have multiple children and grandchildren. My grandfather was on
the Chicago Board of Trade in the early part of the 20th Century. His father and mother lived in the Chicago area around the 1870's. Before that, it gets a little fuzzy -- although my father told me that his father told him that his father told him that "Keelin" originated in Ireland.
