Keelin or Keehln Family Name

I'm trying to find out if there is anyone connected to the original spelling of the name in our family, which was Keehln. We assume it was of German origin but they were in Salem, NC by the mid-1800's. Our family changed the spelling first to Keehlin and finally to Keelin. Our ancestor was a certain Christian David Keehln who was born in Germany and died in Salem, NC on June 31, 1859. His wife was Mary Magdalen Keehln (1802-1870)who was also from Salem, NC. We wonder if they might have been Moravians. Does anyone have any leads for me?
