My great-greatgrandmother, Martha J. Heard was married to a Keelin or Keeling according to family letters and verbal reports that say his name was Jesse. My great-grandmother, Mary "Mollie" Adelaide Keelin or Keeling was born from this marriage. Jesse reportedly died and Martha later married again. Martha was born in 1837 in GA, the daughter of Hubbard P Heard. She is listed in the 1850 Census for Jackson Co AR.with the family of Hubbard Heard. She is not listed with her father and mother in the 1860 AR Census and I have been unable to locate her for that time frame. Hubbard P Heard & wife are listed in the 1860 AR Census for White Co, Harrison township, next to a Jessie Kelin, female age 57 from North Carolina and an M Kelin, Male, age 15, born in GA. I have also found some probate papers listing a Jessie Keeling ( deceased 1867 ) and Hubbard P Heard is listed as the administrator of her estate. I can find no marriage record for Martha J Heard or Jesse Keelin(Keeling), however on the marriage record for Martha's marriage to David Duke in 1870, she is listed as Martha J Keelin. I would like to clear this up. I would like to know who my great-great-grandfather is, his name, whether it is Jesse or something else, where he came from, his parents, etc. Do you have anything in your book, Our Arkansas Keelings that might help? Thanks!
