In Reply to: KEELINGS AND THOROWGOODS by Roy Toy of 1246

There is a lot or original sources missing for Thomas Keeling married to Ann Thorowgood. SInce they had children called "Adam" and "Thorowgood" Keeling, a family connection to Thorowgood must exists. However it is clear by now that Ann Thorowgood was not sister to Adam Thorowgood. (Adam son of William and wife 2 or 3) Ann Edwards had numerous brothers and one sister Francis.
I consider it most likely that Ann was a niece to Adam Thorowgood. It is said that Thomas Keeling and wife Ann arrived in 1634 in the ship "John and Dorothy" under Capt.,Adam Throwgood. I have not find any such recording, also it would be helpful if anybody has the FULL will of Adam Thorowgood pr. 1640 naming "his godson Adam Keeling to have a breeding goat (??goat?)"
Anyhow here is what I found: (from Cavaliers and Pioneers, abstracts of Virginia land deed, by Nugent)
1628 ---Adam Thorowgood (who transported 105 people 1626-1634)
shows for the ship Hopewell-- himself, wife Sarah (she was Sarah Offley who married 2) John Gookin and 3) Argall Yardley) also trransported Thomas Thorowgood (his brother) and Thomas Keeling.
1639----William Davis receives land patent for transporting
24 people among them "Ann Keeding" and Thomas Thorogood.
I think it possible that this was Ann Keeling wife of Thomas Keeling
As said I have not find any Keeling transportation for 1634 which seems to be the basis of assuming they married by 1634 in England.
As far as is known their child Adam was born around 1639.

From "ages of people of Lower Norfolk County etc."
"Kealinge, Ann age 22 in 1640"
"Keeling, THomas age 24 in 1637"
the ages are "thereabouts", aso Ann could well be born ABOUT 1618, HOWEVER Thomas does not seem to be born ab. 1608.

Thomas Keeling supp. had will 1 Oct. 1664 his wife Ann marr. 2) William Jermy (no children) and 3) Robert Bray (he had will pr. in 1681 in his will he mentiones children of Ann (dau. of Thomas Keeling and Ann Thorowgood) Ann (daughter) marr. 1) John Martin,(one sone Joel) 2) John Oakham (children: Mary O.,John O., William O.)Ann (dau.) marr. 3) Anthony Lawson in 1670 (perhaps 2 children I need to recheck this)
Therefore third husband of Ann Thorowgood Keeling was R.Bray who has his "step grandchildren" (in lack of a better relationship name) in his will.

Children of Thomas Keeling and Ann Thorowgood are
Thomas, Adam, Alexander, Edward, Thorowgood, Ann (see above) Sarah and Elizabeth.
"Adam Keeling marr. Ann Martin, dau of John Martin and Grace? Ann Martin marr. 2) Richardson." John Martin had at least 3 children John Jr., Grace and said Ann.
"John Jr. Martin marr. Ann Keeling he died by 1666."
I hope that explains some of the "Martin Keeling marriages:??
There is lots more for Thorowgood family (especially that brother Thomas to Adam) and lots for the Martin Family.
If anybody has some original sources for Keeling/Thorowgood please advise.
