My GGG Grandfather Was John Keels who had son's James Withers Keels my GG Grandfather who married Elizabeth McCauley Coppley. There were three other brothers of James - Robert Francis Keels, Peter R Keels and Richard T. Keels. There is a cemetery outside of Greelyville on Mt Hope where John Keels d 10/28/1820 his wife Mary ??? d 5/11/1825 and son Robert Francis d 1837 are buried. Interesting facts I have not been able to put together. There is a land grant of 400 acres to a John Keels granted by the King of England this was recorded on Feb 3, 1762. Also John Keels fought in the battle of Ft Moultre and died much later 1789 he was married to Elizabeth Frierson. John was born in England in about 1742. I was told that there were 3 brothers Issac, Daniel, and John that came over together. Where did you find out information about John and Judith?? I really want to link the John Keels that lived on plantation outside of Greelyville (Mt Hope) to his father. It mades sence that his father would be John, but I don't know. Also, his wife Mary? What was her last name. Please let me know what you have and any suggestions. I have a wealth of information on James Withers Keels on down. Thanks Carl
