You wrote to Kim King:"I have a Hamden C Keen, (1836- 1912) who was married to Mary Picoat. They had a son Fred. These are relatives on my husbands mothers side, Would be his great, great great grandfather.(i think that right)Let me know if we have the same, perhaps we can share information. What would your relationship be with Hamden Keen?"
Hamden is my GGGrandfather also. His daughter May Florence (the only girl) was my Ggrandmother.
Any questions you might have I'd be happy to search my information for.Any information you might be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. One of the questions I've been unable to answer is "Who is James E. Keen?"He and Hamden are listed in the Portsmouth, NH 1871 directory as being carriage makers having a business (H.C. & J.E. Keen) at 11-1/2 Fleet.
My Grandfather (Ernest Foster, Florence's son) lived much of his early life with Hamden and Mary.Youngest son Frank Keen was only 6 years older than Ernest. If there are any family stories I'd love to know more about Frank and Ernest in the early years.I do know that Florence and Ernest's father were married just a few months before he was born and doubt that they lived together as husband and wife.He (Fred Foster) died when Ernest was just about 2 the census at that time shows Florence living in a boarding house and Ernest living with Hamden and Mary.Ernest, his wife and Florence moved to the Seattle, Washington area some time before 1920.
Look forward to hearing from you.
