The following is from York County, Virginia, “Loose Papers” at the Library of Virginia, Archives. I found the reproduction of the manuscript document at the Yorktown Victory Center Museum on May 19, 2010. I copied the first portion of the reproduction.

Males over 21 were required to swear allegiance to the new state and country or lose their citizen's rights (unless a Quaker)
